The sisters of former president Benigno Simeon 'Noynoy' Aquino III said he can be 'happy now' and rest well with their parents, Ninoy and Cory, following his death early Thursday, June 24.
In an official statement read by Pinky Aquino-Abellada, the sisters revealed that the former leader died peacefully in his sleep due to renal disease secondary to diabetes.
"Mission accomplished ka, Noy. Be happy now with Dad and Mom," Pinky said.
"We love you and we are so blessed to have had the privilege to have had you as our brother. We’ll miss you forever," she added.
Aquino, who is popularly known as PNoy, has been ‘in and out’ of the hospital for medical treatment even before the COVID-19 pandemic started, the sisters revealed.
"No words can express how broken our hearts are and how long it will take for us to accept the reality that he is gone," the Aquino sister stated.
PNoy, the only son of the late President Corazon Aquino and Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. was elected as the 15th President of the Philippines on June 30, 2010, succeeding Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
